Purpose
Exalt Christ in all women’s activities and events.
Encourage women in this body and our community through

Purpose
To visit members and prospects in area hospitals and do follow-up visits, as needed, after people have gone home. To offer encouragement and prayer in time of need.

Operation God Can

Purpose
To offer encouragement to people dealing with illness, death, disappointment, loneliness, etc. through the writing of cards and letters. (Same concept as random acts of kindness.)

Purpose

Homebound/

Purpose
To make our homebound and senior adult members feel a part of our church and to feel wanted and loved.

Purpose

Handyman Team

Purpose
The Handyman Team exists to perform minor home repair and maintenance tasks for members of the church. The intended recipients of this ministry are those who are senior adults, widowed, newer married, divorced, and single mothers who need a helping hand.

Responsibilities
The ministry will coordinate its efforts through the church office under the guidance of a team leader. Members can either contact the church office or the team leader directly with their needs. The team leader will assign the task to a member of the team who will then complete the task as soon as possible. When outside professional services are required, the team will also be available for consultation and advice.

Examples of possible services:
Minor plumbing & electrical repairs
Change light bulbs
Clean or replace furnace filters
Replace car headlights
Run errands for parts
Note: All money for needed items will be paid by the recipient. Only services are free of charge.
Cut grass-(one time basis in case of emergency)

Missions Team

Purpose
To carry hope, help and the message of Christ to a lost and hurting world. (Neighborhood, community, state, national, world).

New Member Welcome Team

Purpose
To help assimilate new members into the flow and fellowship (friendship) of Mt. Carmel.

Responsibilities
To take a new member’s packet into the home of each new member.
Do follow-up for the first three months after person or family joins the church.

Greeters Ministry
(Greeters)
Purpose
To welcome all guests, regular attendees and members
        who come into Mt. Carmel.

Responsibilities
At Main Entrances:
Open doors.
Hand out the Bulletin.
Offer a helping hand at Registration Desk.
Fill out guest’s information sheet.
Maps available for each location of classes.
Answer questions.
Send out cards each week to guests
letting them know we enjoyed their visit.
Escort guests to their classes, taking care of children first.
       Introduce them to outreach leaders and teachers.

Greeters Ministry
(Curbsiders)
Purpose
To extend a warm welcome and helping hand to those attending Sunday Services. To set the example of a caring and loving atmosphere at Mt. Carmel.
To accomplish this at the earliest opportunity (in the parking lot). To insure people are comfortable and feel accepted.

Responsibilities
To function as an extension to the Greeter Ministry.
Station Team members in parking lot to greet people as they arrive. Help people as they arrive or depart:
Provide directions and information
Be friendly and answer questions
Provide umbrellas in inclement weather
Shake people’s hands
           Offer words of encouragement
Offer to carry items
Watch for children and their safety
As needed, help people in and out of cars
Help with handicap parking and helping people to locate
                empty parking places.

“Sanctuary” Sunday Morning Flower Team

Purpose
To enhance the beauty of the sanctuary by adding fresh flowers or a silk arrangement for Sunday morning services

Responsibilities
Make sure an arrangement is on the altar table.
Provide a list for people to sign up for fresh flowers for an honorarium or memorial
Keep all silk flowers looking clean and fresh.
Provide altar table with seasonal arrangements.
Get a rose for babies born within our church family.
Make sure sanctuary is ready for worship.

Wednesday Night Dinner Team

Purpose
To prepare good meals and present them well for the purpose of ministering to the church family and prospective members as they come for a time of mid-week worship.

City Gospel Mission

Purpose
Prepare and serve a good meal to about 80 homeless or low income families (plus staff & volunteers). To minister to both the spiritual and physical needs of inner city Cincinnati through worship services, meals, shelter & other needs.


Responsibilities
Prepare and serve an evening meal each 4th Saturday of the month. To help prepare, serve, and clean-up.
Either work at Mt. Carmel’s kitchen, or carpool downtown to serve and clean-up at the mission or both. Visit with men and women at the mission. Prepare a dessert and drop it off at Mt. Carmel’s kitchen on Saturday afternoon.

Student Ministry

The Student Ministry @ Mt. Carmel exists to CARRY the word to non-believing students, to make worship of Christ the CORE of who we are, to CONNECT with fellow believers, to CRAVE nearness to God, and to CARE for others in His name.

The Student Ministry TEAM is focused on building God’s kingdom through ministry to teenagers.  Our team exists to meet five specific purposes of teenage ministry:  Evangelism, Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, and Service.
 
Team members will help the Student Minister lead in some of the following areas:

Evangelism (Outreach)—CARRY

Help students learn to invite their friends to activities/events/programs.

Help students learn to share their faith with non-believers.
Worship—CORE
·
Help with getting students involved in leading worship through music, drama, speaking, and other means of public worship, both in Student Ministry and Mt. Carmel-wide

Help getting guest speakers to come and share with students their wisdom and experiences.
Fellowship/Recreation—CONNECT
·
Help with creating, planning, and staffing student events and activities.
·
Help with crowd-breakers, games, and fun activities at regularly-scheduled programs.

Help with fundraisers.
Discipleship—CRAVE
·
Help students develop good habits to study God’s word.
·
Help determine Sunday School and other small group strategies and curriculum.
Service (Ministry)—CARE
·
Help plan, create, and staff Christian service opportunities for students and adults.

Help communicate the need for Service Hours in the Ministry @ Mt. Carmel.

Overall, the TEAM will have a short monthly meeting to discuss current and future Student Ministry topics and events, and to receive hands-on training for working with today’s teenagers.

Children’s Ministry
Purpose for Preschool Ministry:
This is where we believe your children begin their faith formation.is where the Bible stories, songs and love of Jesus become part of your child's life.
Mt. Carmel Baptist Church will provide a safe, secure and friendly environment in which your child can interact with each other and their teachers.  Each teacher has had a background check and has a passion for teaching preschoolers about God.
Purpose for Children’s Ministry:
At Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, our goal is to partner with parents in their efforts to lay strong spiritual foundations in the lives of their children. We want to see children develop a relationship with God and find a community that will support them through their spiritual journey.
We feel this can best be accomplished through God-centered, kid-friendly teaching and activities. Each week and all during the year these opportunities include Sunday Bible Study, Vacation Bible School, RA’s, GA’s, Mission Friends, Children’s Camp and special events.
Education & Outreach Team
Team Members: Sunday School Teachers, Extended Session Volunteers, Children’s Church Volunteer’s, VBS Teachers, Children’s Music, Preschool Music, Mission Friends, RA’s & GA’s.
Purpose: To teach the children the stories of our faith and how they relate to us today.  Through this teaching, we emphasize a relationship with Christ and each other.  We do this through Sunday School, Music, and Missions. Children are taught age appropriate lessons that will give them a firm foundation for their faith formation.

Responsibilities:
Commit to teach the truth of God’s Word accurately and innovatively to reach children. Commit to make all children feel welcome. Commit to follow-up with all children that attend our functions.

Seasonal Teams
Fall Festival Team: This team’s function is to help in the planning, preparation and implementation of our annual Fall Festival.
Egg Hunt Team: This team’s function is to help in the planning, preparation and implementation of our annual Egg Hunt.
VBS Team: This team’s function is to help in the planning, preparation and implementation of our annual Vacation Bible School.
Day Camp Team: This team’s function is to help in the planning, preparation and implementation of our annual Day Camp.

Parent’s Team: This team will be comprised of parents with children.  The function of this team is to discuss the needs of the children and to help shape the direction of the Children’s Ministry.
Fellowship Team: This team’s function will be to create fun opportunities for children and their families to come together throughout the year to help foster community.

Drama Ministry Team
Purpose
To communicate with dramatic sketches and readings, biblical truths, and principles in worship services and
special events.

Puppet Team (Contact Terry K.)
This team’s function will be to reach our children with the message of Christ though puppets and drama appropriate for their age.

Responsibilities
This team will be made up of individuals who are interested in any form of dramatic visual arts presentation in the church. This team will perform for worship services and other special events within the life of the church. Experience is not necessary. Includes: actors, dancers, readers, those who can sign, mime, and contemporary expression, as well as technical and set construction crew.

Banner Team
Purpose
To make banners for the Sanctuary

Responsibilities
This team will be made up of individuals who are interested in making banners for the Sanctuary. This is an ongoing ministry and will require sewing and pattern reading skills.
Media Team
Purpose
To use audio and visual technology to enhance worship services and special events.

Responsibilities
This team is responsible for the setup, breakdown, and operation of audio and visual equipment. The primary function of this team will be to operate the Sound system, TV cameras, and recording equipment during worship services and special events. Also can be included in the planning process of equipment purchases and needs. Also includes audio/video and CD/DVD ministry which involves recording services and special events and duplicating CD’s, and DVD’s  for homebound and distribution. Media team operates on a quarterly printed schedule. Also included now is the projection ministry, which is operating a computer for services to provide lyrics on the screen.

Orchestra
Purpose
To lead in worship by supporting congregational singing and special music presentations.

Responsibilities
The orchestra is very involved in the Sunday worship services as they provide musical support for all congregational singing and other musical presentations. This group includes piano, organ,  keyboards, drums, bass guitar, acoustic/electric guitar and wind and stringed instruments. Orchestra rehearses once per week and plays for both services.

Worship Ensembles
Purpose
To glorify God through music in a small intimate ensemble setting.

Responsibilities
Work as a team to showcase individual talents and skills in the area of music. While most ensembles are vocal, there are some instrumental ensembles as well. While not required, it is highly recommended that membership in the adult choir precede membership in any ensemble. Ensembles rehearse at various times determined by schedule and leader.

Handbell Ensembles
Purpose
To glorify God through Handbells. Provide music for worship services and special events.

Responsibilities
To work together as an ensemble and present music in worship services and special events. There are two groups of Handbells, an Adult team consisting of adults 18 and over, and a youth team consisting of students 7th-12th grade. Youth Handbells These groups rehearse once per week throughout the school year.

Youth Choir
Purpose
To sing in worship services and special events. The youth choir will provide special music in worship services and also present musicals, tours, and special events.

Responsibilities
To work together as a choir unit to prepare music to sing in worship services, and special events. This group will also prepare for an annual choir tour and attend annual music conferences and special musical events throughout the year. They will also present concerts outside the church and represent the church in musical excellence. Youth Choir rehearses Sunday’s at 5:00pm.

Youth Praise Band
Purpose
To present worship music for student worship services on Sunday evenings, lead occasionally in Sunday morning worship services, and special events.

Responsibilities
This group is responsible for providing the worship music for student worship services on Sunday nights. They will rehearse on Sunday afternoon in preparation. This is mostly a student lead ensemble. Audition is required, and skill on an instrument necessary for membership. Includes: drums, guitars, bass, keyboard, singers, sound technicians and other auxiliary support instruments. Praise Band rehearses Sunday’s at 4:00pm.

Sanctuary Choir
Purpose
To help facilitate worship services and provide music in various types of worship settings and special events.

Responsibilities
The main responsibility of the sanctuary choir is to lead music in worship services each Sunday.  Also to encourage those in the congregation to encounter God through worship. The choir rehearses each Wednesday evening and presents anthems and worship songs each Sunday. They also present seasonal musical presentations such as dramatic musicals, choral cantatas, and perform at other venues throughout the church year.
